Payment/Charge Policy

Richmond County Public Schools School Nutrition Program operates under CEP (Community Eligibility Program). Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for ALL students.

  • School term 21-22 will be operating under the SSO (Seamless Summer Option)
  • All meals are Free for students

RCPS does not allow charging of à la carte items purchased. À la carte items must be either prepaid or paid at the point of sale. Prepayments may be made online through MySchoolsBucks. You will need your child's birthdate or PIN number to set up an account.

** Due to COVID restrictions and meal service model changes, à la carte items will not be sold during the 21-22 school term. This restriction will be re-evaluated in December. If circumstances have improved, à la carte sales may resume.

 

No charging is allowed for Adult meals.

Staff must prepay or pay at the point of service.

Child Nutrition Civil Rights Complaint Procedures

 

Richmond County School District provides the Child Nutrition Program benefits to all eligible individuals without discrimination on the bases of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, family/parental status, income derived from public assistance program and political beliefs. All complaints alleging discrimination can be submitted verbally, in writing, or anonymously.  Any person alleging discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability has a right to file a complaint within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory action. Any child nutrition staff receiving a discrimination complaint should make written notes regarding the complaint. The name and contact information of the person making the complaint and the nature of complaint. Every effort should be made to resolve the issue immediately. School Nutrition Programs will obtain all necessary complaint information and process the complaint within 90 days.

 

If the issue cannot be resolved the complainant should be given the following information:

If you wish to file a Civil Rights program complaint of discrimination, 

  1. Complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form 
    Forms can be obtained from the cafeteria manager at your child’s school.

  2. Take your form to the Food Service Director, Jason Houck 804-333-3584 or your child’s principal. 

    All written complaints will be directed to the Civil Rights Compliance Officer:
    Dr. Sarah Schmidt; Assistant Superintendent – (804)-333-1978

    The compliance officer; Dr. Sarah Schmidt, will perform the following duties:
    Maintain a complaint log to include the following:  
    • Name, address and telephone number or other means of contacting the complainant (if not anonymous) 
    • Serving site name and location 
    • Nature of complaint or action that led to the charges being filed.
    • For complaints that appear discriminatory the following information: 
      • Basis on which the complainant feels that discrimination occurred (must feel discriminated against based on one or more of the protected classes)
      • Names, titles, addresses of persons who may have knowledge of the discriminatory action or situation (if known)
      • Date(s) that the alleged discrimination occurred
      • All civil rights complaints will be forwarded to:

USDA NONDISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
