Educational Accomplishments


  • Led the development of SOL accountability strategies for the Carroll County Public Schools, which resulted in full division accreditation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011)
  • Implemented and developed the first Virtual Public School (Virginia Virtual Academy) in Virginia
  • Led the application and implementation of the Blue Ridge Crossroads Governor’s Academy for Technical Education in cooperation with Va. Tech and Wytheville Community College (Regional Application: Carroll, Galax, Grayson Public Schools)
  • Developed  methods and strategies to improve student attendance and limit truancy through cooperation with multiple social and judicial agencies within Carroll County
  • Led the implementation of SmartBoards and LCD Projectors in classrooms throughout the Carroll County Public Schools
  • Directed the research and cooperative creation of Everyday Mathematics to grades K-6 in the of the Carroll County Public Schools
  • Led the improvement of broadband and technology services for instructional uses for teachers, parents and administrators of the CCPSD
  • Implemented innovative communication strategies for parents and stakeholders of the CCPSD (School Reach, Pearson-Parent Portal, etc.)
  • Led the application of Qualified School Construction Bonds ($15 Million) for the renovation and new construction of CCHS and CCIS
  • Directed the development of Alternative Education Programs including “Choices” scheduling, student child care and student drug screening opportunities
  • Implemented leadership development programs for aspiring administrators and teacher leaders in cooperation with Radford University
