Office of Special Education
The Office of Special Education is committed to providing quality services for the students of Richmond County found eligible for special education services though the eligibility process.
The Special Education process can be very confusing and daunting. The Special Education Office will be glad to answer any questions about the process, beginning with Child Find as well as provide hard copies of the resources referenced on this page. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)
The Richmond County SEAC meets quarterly during the school year. We are always looking for new members, suggestions for improvement or information sessions, or those just looking to see what we are all about. The major purpose of the SEAC is to provide an opportunity for parents and other school board appointees to have a voice in the way school divisions provide services to students with disabilities. SEACs are extensions of local school boards since members are appointed by them, and SEACs provide reports and recommendations to their school boards. If you have an interest in serving on the SEAC, please contact Dr. Sandra Hedrick or your child’s principal. Dates of the meetings for the 2018-2019 School Year are below:
October 1, 2018
January 15, 2019
March 5, 2019
The Richmond County Special Education Annual Plan Application will be presented and discussed.
June 3, 2019
All meetings will begin at 4:00PM, and will be at the Richmond County School Board Office.
On March 12, 2019, at 10:00 AM, the Richmond County Public Schools Special Education Department will hold a meeting with local private schools and parents providing home schooling instruction to discuss how services will be provided to those students through the proportionate set aside monies. The meeting will be held at the Richmond County School Board Office. Please call Dr. Hedrick if you have any questions at 333-5085.
