Title 1

Richmond County uses the funds provided by the federal government to implement the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The majority of the funding is used to offer students in grades K-5 supportive instruction in reading and math. Students will be selected to participate in one of a variety of programs based on an individual needs assessment of each child’s skills. Teacher tests, early reading tests, English language assessment tests, and SOL test results will be used to identify those students who need additional assistance to master state standards.

In addition to student instruction, funding from this law will support professional development, use of technology in the instructional program, services for parents who do not speak English, and purchase of materials and equipment to support classroom activities.

If you feel your child needs assistance, or if you would like additional information about the programs available to your child, please contact Dr. Sarah M. Schmidt, Assistant Superintendent.
