In an effort to maintain transparency, the following is a list of online educational services that are approved for use in the classroom. 

In order for some of these programs to function properly in a school setting, individual student information needs to be shared.  The programs listed under “K-12 Programs” are division-wide contractual agreement programs in which the school division shares student information with the contracted vendor.  Each of these vendors have a data privacy agreement in place to protect your student’s data.  They are not allowed to share your child’s data with anyone, and act as an extension of the school system.   

“School Specific Programs” is a list of programs that some schools have deemed necessary to support the educational goals of that school.  Any school specific program requiring student information will also have a data privacy agreement.  While most of these programs do not need, or have access to student information, they do still have access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as email addresses, which are used for account usernames.  

“Individual Class Specific Programs” are websites, or programs, that individual teachers may use throughout the school year. They may also require the use of email addresses for account usernames, but do not require any student information.  It is RCPS policy for teachers to notify parents of these programs prior to use.  For any new website or program that a teacher would like to use, and is not listed below, parents should receive a letter from the teacher asking for permission.  These programs will be added to this list during the school year once permission has been obtained.
