School Driving and Parking Privileges


  1. Students must park in the numbered spot they are assigned in the back parking lot, unless otherwise noted in the system by Rappahannock High School (RHS) Administration. The cost of student parking is $30 for the whole year and $15 if only parking in the Second Semester.


  1. Students are to park in the field house parking lot and will enter the end of the new addition.


  1. Students are not to remain in the vehicles or loiter in the parking lot. Once arriving at school prior to the first bell, students may not leave school without specific authorization from the principal or assistant principal. Students leaving without permission may lose their driving privileges.


  1. Any student who with a valid excuse needs to return to their vehicle will do so, ONLY if accompanied by the school resource officer or an administrator. If an administrator or school resource officer is not available the student must wait until they are available to escort them.


  1. Students who drive in a careless or dangerous manner on school property or while entering or leaving school property and/or ignore parking rules are subject to having privileges suspended or denied. The speed limit on school property is 10 mph.


  1. Student drivers must yield to buses at all times when on school property. When leaving the lot in the afternoon, student drivers may not leave the lot in any direction while the buses are leaving.


  1. Student drivers must yield to parents picking up other students.


  1. School officials have the authority to search any vehicle on school property if reasonable cause is given to believe that any prohibitive substance, a weapon of any kind, or any other dangerous or illegal items are in the vehicle.


  1. Students “skipping” school are subject to having driving privileges suspended or denied.


  1. Students who receive an excessive number of unexcused tardiness and/or absences from school during a semester will have driving privileges suspended. Please refer to the student handbook for a full explanation.

4th Offense- 10 Days Loss of Driving Privilege

5th Offense- 15 Days Loss of Driving Privilege

6th Offense- Remainder of the semester


  1. The noise level must be kept to a minimum so not to disturb classes in progress if students arrive late. This would include car stereos at all times.


  1. School officials are not responsible for cars or their contents while on school property.


  1. Driving is a privilege that can be suspended or denied when students do not follow specific instructions for behavior.
