Right to Request Teacher Qualifications

Dear Parent,

At Richmond County Elementary School we are very proud of our teachers and know they are prepared to give your child a high-quality education. In fact, all of our academic teachers and paraprofessionals are considered highly qualified, as defined by Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). As a Title I school, we must meet federal rules related to teacher qualifications as defined in ESEA (section 1111(h) (6)(A)). These rules allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask:

  • Whether the teacher meets the state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status because of special circumstances.  The teacher’s college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree.
  • Whether paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if so, their qualifications.

If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Dr. Strong, Assistant Superintendent, at 333-1978 or in writing at P.O. Box 1507, Warsaw, VA 22572.

Sincerely,

Jason Strong, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent
